Bournemouth 2025 Day Trip

Bicester u3a day trip to Bournemouth 4 June 2025

Forty-three of our members joined the coach for the two-hour journey to Bournemouth. The weather forecast had been changeable for days, so we didn’t know what to expect. A shower or two on the way but then blue skies and white fluffy clouds!

We had the most glorious weather, sunshine all day, a bit breezy but warm in sheltered spots out of the wind.

Many of us treated ourselves to fish and chips in a variety of venues, most looking out over the sea and sand. Some enjoyed cocktails, others wine or beer or maybe just tea and coffee. A walk on the pier, a game of crazy golf, a stroll through the beautiful gardens or a brave journey in the pods of the Observation Tower, Bournemouth’s answer to the London Eye.

Several members of the group visited the Russell-Cotes Gallery and Garden, on the East Cliff overlooking the sea. This Victorian house competed in 1901, is also a museum holding many treasures. Another venue was the Oceanarium, a fascinating look at various sea life. A few decided they just had to have a paddle!

After tea and cake or perhaps an ice-cream, we returned to the coach for the return to Bicester. It was a great day out!
