Photographic Competition 2022

SUBJECT: WILD FLORA AND FAUNA OF THE BRITISH ISLES

The response to this year’s competition was good, with 52 photo entries. The standard was excellent. Voting slips were handed out at the November meeting, with members choosing their three favourites. 70 slips were returned, with a total of 210 votes. The voting was exceptionally close. In the absence of an expert judge, the results show the top three ladies, the top three gentlemen and the overall winner.

3rd place: Photo number 23 by Denise Thornton, Red Deer

2nd place: Photo number 52 by Patsy Parsons, Cornfield bounded by Grasses

1st place: Photo number 1 by Viv McKay, Hawk Moth

1st place: Photo number 1 by Viv McKay, Hawk Moth

The results for Gentlemen

3rd place: Photo number 44 by David Thornton, Cornflower

2nd place: Photo number 13 by Mike Luff, Dragon Fly. However, David Thornton says that this is a banded demoiselle.

1st place: Photo number 41 by Richard Herbert, Barn Owl

1st place: Photo number 41 by Richard Herbert, Barn Owl

The overall winner of the competition was Richard Herbert (Barn Owl) as he achieved the most votes.

Small prizes have been presented to Viv and Richard.

Many thanks to everyone who entered and to everyone who voted. The winning photographs will be displayed again at the AGM.
